Dock Builders in Holmes Beach, FL

Holmes Beach is the middle city on Anna Maria Island, and much of its waterfront is canal frontage on the Anna Maria Sound side. For dock builders, that means seawall repair comes up constantly: on a canal lot, the wall holds up the yard, anchors the dock, and is the first thing a surge hits. Next door, the bayside island of Key Royale, once called School Key, was uninhabited until a bridge reached it in 1960.

The dock on top of the wall

On most canal lots, the dock bolts to the seawall cap. If the wall is being repaired, it is a good time to check the dock connection, the decking and the pilings at the outer end. If a lift is part of the setup, we check that as well.

Island waters

The state rule for Manatee County lists Anna Maria Sound from SR 64 to Cortez Road as a year-round slow speed zone, apart from the marked Intracoastal channel and the water close beside it. Holmes Beach incorporated in 1950, and the 2020 census counted 3,010 residents and 4,196 housing units, 61.1% of them vacant, which on the island largely reflects seasonal and rental homes.

Lifts on canal lots

A canal lift needs room to swing the boat in and out, enough depth at low tide and pilings that can take the load. We measure the canal, check neighbor setbacks and size the lift to the boat's real weight. If the lift was flooded in 2024, we test the motor and switches before putting a boat back on it.

Floating docks

For kayaks and paddleboards, a small float off the seawall gives an easy launch. We size it to fit within your lot's setbacks and keep it off the bottom at low tide.

Piling replacement

Outer pilings on canal docks take the boat bumps and wakes. Replacing a few worn ones is often enough to firm up a dock that is otherwise sound.
